Grammy Award winning afropop artiste, Ayodeji Balogun, also known as Wizkid, turned 31 today.
Fans of the artiste, popularly regarded as Wizkid FC, took to social media to celebrate him for his many years of hit singles and his three chart-topping studio albums using the hashtags #WIZKIDDAY #WizkidAt31.
Since his debut in the Nigerian music industry in 2011 with hit single ’Holla at your boy‘, which remains a fan favorite till date, Wizkid, or Starboy as he is fondly called, has not stopped churning out hits.
He has gone on to not only break ground in Nigeria but all over the world too.
Doubling as a songwriter, Wizkid is also a father of three who has bagged many awards home and abroad. The afropop sensation is also a world record holder. Back in 2018, his 2016 feature on Canadian superstar, Drake’s ‘One Dance‘ appeared on the Guinness World Record books as the most streamed song on Spotify.

Fast forward to 2021 and Wizkid was in uncharted territory yet again in the Nigerian music industry. He became one of the first Nigerian musicians to win a Grammy for his collaboration with Beyoncé on the song ‘Brown Skin Girl’, which was awarded the Best Music Video.

Wizkid is about to begin his Made in Lagos North American tour, from September 2021 till January 2022. He also added that dates for a UK and Europe tour would be announced soon.
