According to the official press release by Castello, the gold cube took over around 4500 hours of work and was fabricated by Art Foundry H. Rüetschi in Aarau (Switzerland). The document also disclosed that the artwork promotes the cryptocurrency, Castello Coin of the artist. This beautiful gold cube was guarded by a security unit on Wednesday (2nd Feb). Castello had previously teased the gold cube by getting numerous trucks (which displayed mysterious coordinates of the location) to drive around Times Squares.

According to Artnet, Niclas Castello alias Norbert Zerbs is a contemporary artist hails from East Germany and was born on the 21st of July, 1978. The 43-years-old artist was allegedly influenced by the fall of the Berlin Wall. He displays his artwork inspired by neo-expressionism, street art, and pop art, amongst others.

In the late 1990s, Niclas Castello was engaged in the street art culture of Germany and then migrated to Paris in the year 2003. The Neuhaus am Rennweg citizen later migrated to New York, where he created most of his artistic style. At that time, Castello worked on many art projects across several galleries in Europe and the United States Of America.

In the biography section of his website, Castello credits American video artist Arleen Schloss as his mentor. He allegedly lives with her at Schloss’s place in New York for 2 years. The German artist is presently based out of Switzerland and New York.

The artist is quite famous for his sculptures like The Kiss and his critically praised artwork, the Cube-Painting-Sculpture (released in the year 2016). His other works include many structures which are inspired by cubes. According to Artnet, Castello presently has around 20 artworks available for buying. These include 6 paintings and 9 sculptures, along with installations and prints. In the meantime, his print works are available for $20,000 to $30,000.
