“We Will Sue 2 Chainz For $10m For Naming His Restaurant After Escobar “-Pablo Escobar Family

2 Chainz is not in the good favour of the family of late Pablo Escobar. TMZ reports Chainz is being sued by Escobar Inc. for at least $10 million after naming his two Atlanta restaurants, “Escobar Restaurant and Tapas”.

In their lawsuit, Escobar Inc. says they own the trademark to Escobar ‘s likeness and Chainz’s use of it at both restaurant locations, a website, social media, merchandise and even menu items without permission violate federal legislation. In addition to the minimum of $10 million, the estate is also seeking an injunction to block the use of the name and likeness at both sites.

Hip Hop has a long-standing infatuation with the late drug lord who died in 1993 as the richest criminal in history, with an estimated $30 billion worth of drug empire. While Nas has gone by the nickname “Escobar” since the beginning of his rap career, other artists like Wiz Khalifa have gone out of their way to visit Escobar ‘s grave in Colombia (in the process annoying the town’s mayor).

This is not the first time Chainz has caused trouble at the restaurant. Just last month, police shut down one of the two places for violating the guidelines for COVID-19. According to their report, cops stopped in and discovered the violations after they “noticed the location was rather loud, busy, and busy at that time of night to be operating as a restaurant.”

The rapper formerly known as Tity Boi has yet to acknowledge the social media lawsuit since the news broke, but he did share a post commemorating the three-year anniversary of Pretty Girls Like Trap Music’s release on Tuesday (June 16).

The project served as his fourth album in the studio and featured appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, Trey Songz, Jhené Aiko and many more.
