Lurambi MP Bishop Titus Khamala on Thursday, May 27, 2021 rolled on the ground while making a speech in support of Presidential hopeful Musalia Mudavadi.
Speaking to a small gathering in Kakamega County, the MP expressed his dissatisfaction with people from the Luhya community who did not rally behind Mudavadi, challenging that they should step up to be the leaders themselves.
In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the small crowd gathered laughed and cheered at the bishop’s spirited call for unity.
“Let those who don’t want Musalia come out and offer themselves as alternatives. If you oppose Mudavadi yet you aren’t a better choice, then who do you want?” the MP asked as he fell on the ground and started to roll over.
He described Mudavadi as a joyful, modest and gentle politician with a good business mindset. He went on to add that he is man with a gentle spirit.
This is not the first instance he has come out rallying behind the ANC party leader.
The MP has been a loyal supporter of the former vice president and has been propping him to run for the country’s top seat.
In February, the Lurambi MP took on his fellow Luhya leaders who were opposed to Mudavadi’s presidential bid. He accused some Luhya leaders of dining at the neighbour’s home just for the sake of fighting Mudavadi.
He alleged that the Western region had the best opportunity to ascend to the Presidency in 2022 through Mudavadi and that the ANC party leader was likeable across the country and would be the most suitable successor to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Musalia Mudavadi’s presidential bid got a boost when Western Kenya Council of Elders backed him for the top seat.
In a move to consolidate his support in his Western Kenya stronghold as he seeks a stab at the presidency in 2022, Mudavadi met leaders from the region and pleaded with them to rally behind him.
Mudavadi pledged to fix the ailing economy in the country if elected president but urged the elders to reach out to local politicians out to scuttle his presidential ambitions.
