Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s government has finally stated Deputy President William Ruto’s failed flight to the Banana Republic.

Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday 4 August at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala, Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Henry Okello Oryem dismissed the claims that Uganda was interfering with Kenya’s political affairs.

Mr. Oryem asserted that Museveni and his administration have no personal interests in Kenyan politics, adding that DP Ruto’s visit to Uganda was Kenya’s affair to handle.

The Ugandan Minister further added that Uganda had no clue on what prompted Kenyan authorities to cancel the second in command flight that was scheduled for Monday 2 August at Wilson Airport.

“That’s a question that can only be answered by them,” Oryem possed.

“To my best of knowledge, the protocol department led by the Chief of Protocol has no record whatsoever of any request to provide services to his Excellency Ruto,” Oryem responded.

The Minister also stated that the Kenyan High Commission did not inform Uganda of DP Ruto’s visit, adding that the two neighboring countries did not consider the DP’s visit as an official trip.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chairman John Mbadi had earlier informed the Ugandan President to respect Kenya and stop interfering with the country’s politics.

DP Ruto, however, defended Museveni, during an interview stating that he was also an ally to all senior politicians in Kenya and should not be dragged into such issues.

“Museveni is my friend, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s and ODM leader Raila Odinga’s ally. We all have campaigned for him before. Why should there be a problem when I tour Uganda but not an issue when the others visit.

“I was not flying to Uganda on an official tour. I was going to handle my per,” DP Ruto stated.
