The Former President who was the Poorest president in the world

It is not usual to find a poor president, but a few years ago the then president of Uruguay was named as the poorest president in the world.
The name of this man was Jose Mujica, he was born 20th may 1935. He was a former guerilla member of the affiliation broad front tapamaros.
Mujica was imprisoned for 14 years during the 1970s and 1980s during the dictatorship period in Uruguay.
He became a minister from 2005 to 2008 and a senator afterwards. In the year 2009 he won the presidential election.
He took office as the president of Uruguay on March 2010.During his time as a president, Jose didn’t enjoy a life of luxury.
He had a small house that was located outside the capital. His house was guarded by only two police officers who were outside his house.
Jose once said that he chose to live without too many belongings so that he can live the way he wanted.
He only owned two vehicles, a small amount of property and his farm home.
He also donated 90% of his salary which was a bout 12000 dollars to help the poor and small Enterprises.
Jose ruled Uruguay from the year 2010 to 2015. He only ruled for one term and then he completely retired from politics.
When Jose was asked if he was poor he denied and said that he wasn’t poor since he had more than what he wanted.
He went on saying that he wasn’t poor since people are the one who want more and more.
On the year 2018, Jose resigned from being a post senator, and this meant that he was not going to receive the pension he was receiving.
