There will be nothing like supporting Deputy President William Ruto from another party, the politicians associating with him have been told.

This comes at a time when some of his allies have opted to form separate parties, through which they want coalitions with his UDA party.

Such include Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, who now leads the CCK party and former Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri who leads the TSP party.

These leaders have lately been unhappy with the DP over his stand against small and regional parties and his position that they need to join UDA.

Mumias East Bernard Washiali, an ally of the DP, has said that this will remain the stand, and that Ruto will not sign alliance pacts which will make service delivery hard for him if he wins.

“We will not allow sideshows in Ruto’s leadership which will cause a lot of problems. If you look at previous coalitions, they have been in chaos because of interests that do not benefit Kenyans but certain leaders,” he told the Sunday Nation.

He added that the two and others will have to fold their parties and join Ruto as they will not be allowed to support him from other outfits.

The lawmaker adds that if they cannot adhere to this, then they are free to shift their support elsewhere and support another presidential candidate.

“If they refuse, they will have to make different arrangements. Come 2022, we are going as one party. They are free to identify another presidential candidate,” he is quoted.

Ruto has made it clear that he is uncomfortable with regional outfits, which he has branded tribal parties, stressing on the need for bigger national ones.

But Kuria and Kiunjuri have claimed that his is an attempt to get votes, especially from Mt Kenya, without having to convince the region, through its parties, that he deserves its votes. At the same time, there are also other politicians from the region who are fully in support of UDA and are eyeing it’s ticket for their 2022 candidatures.
