Like many French clubs, RC Lens, who had very little rest following their superb 2020-2021 season, is already back from training in order to better prepare for the next campaign. Before going to Rennes for the first day of Ligue 1 on August 8, the Sang et Or will face Le Havre in a friendly match on July 17 and will have the opportunity to wear one of their new tunics.
Last June, the Lensoise management decided to dream bigger by joining Puma while Macron had been equipping the club since 2018. For his first season at the Bollaert-Delelis stadium, the German equipment manufacturer will have the chance to see the Lensois supporters back and it is also in this mythical enclosure that the new outfits have just been revealed. Historically speaking, Lens players are known to evolve red and yellow in their lair as they move with new colors almost every year. At the start of the school year, Seko Fofana and his partners will wear two jerseys inspired by the club’s great history.
The home shirt is adorned with the traditional colors of the club founded in 1906 and pays tribute to its history by highlighting the iconic red diagonal which highlights the club’s crest. The yellow background is also complemented by fine red vertical stripes while the V-neck, the end of the sleeves and the Puma logo add a touch of black. At the back of the neck, we find the inscription “Proud to be Lensois” in red. Finally, red shorts and yellow socks complete the new outfit.
As in the last two seasons spent with Macron, RC Lens players will wear a green and black away jersey. If they are not necessarily known to the general public, these two colors are nevertheless the first of the club. The green refers to the Place Verte, where football was played in Lens at the time, while the black recalls coal and the past of the city of Lens, a former mining area. Unlike Macron who had put these colors forward with a clear domination of black, Puma opted for equal vertical stripes while the collar and the end of the sleeves are covered in green.
