Two inbound passengers have been arrested by the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos State for allegedly smuggling 16.65 kilograms of cocaine worth billions of naira into the country.
The suspects, Okwubunne Chidiebere Simeon and Aniakar Uchenna James, were arrested on Wednesday, 28 October 2020, with 10.40 kgs and 6.25 kgs of cocaine, respectively, on arrival from Sao Paulo , Brazil.
The products were hidden in eight duvets for children that included seven absorbent towels.
Although the remaining drugs were neatly and cleverly placed in tin cans labeled Schramn, the towels were saturated with cocaine.
Depending on the nation, with the street value of cocaine worth around N135, 000 per gram, seizures are worth over N2bn.
