Gene Deitch is an American illustrator who has many famous animation works under his belt. Many best know him with one of his famous works, “Tom And Jerry series”.
Eugene Merrill Deitch, was born on the 8th August 1924. He was a talented artist, illustrator and actor. He directed 13 episodes of beloved children’s cartoon Tom and Jerry and some from the series Popeye.
According to news sources, he died “unexpectedly”. His Czech publisher, Petr Himmel when speaking with The Associated Press said the “illustrator died unexpectedly”.
His death was recorded on Thursday night 16 April 2020 at his apartment in Prague in the Little Quarter area.
He survived by his wife and three sons from his first marriage. The children all followed in his footsteps and work as cartoonists and illustrator.
