This Thursday, Spain played its first match of the Olympic Games. Opposed to Egypt, the Roja could count on several players present at Euro 2020. Pedri, Pau Torres, Mikel Oyarzabal, Eric Garcia or even Dani Olmo were all holders for this meeting. The two Real Madrid players Marco Asensio and Dani Ceballos were also in the starting XI.

But despite an attractive team on paper, the Spaniards were held in check by Egypt (0-0) for their entry into the competition. Luis de la Fuente’s players were unable to find the loophole in the Egyptian defense. They will have to do better against Argentina and Australia, their next opponents in Group C.
