Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has fired back at Catholic bishops over the alarming prediction they made on Wednesday.

The preachers, led by Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) Chair Martin Kivuvahad held a presser to warn against the widening rift between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto.

They stressed on the need for the two to reconcile, warning that their enmity and the harsh words being traded between the two sides could result in unrest.

The men of God, while offering to lead reconciliation talks between the two principals, suggested that soon there could be witnessed a violent faceoff between Kenyans allied to the two, who are national leaders.

“We are deeply concerned that if these differences trickle down to their supporters it could generate effects dire to even contemplate,” said Nyeri Archbishop Anthony Muheria, a member of the team, said.

But their remarks and warnings have been dismissed and rubbished by the MP, who has termed their concerns a joke, noticing that they are now being nosy and trying to force themselves where they aren’t needed.

The lawmaker says that this is because they shouldn’t be interfering, terming their concerns nonsensical.

The close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga says that the preachers should also know that Ruto is the problem and is the one with the solution to his problems.

“Some Bishops now say there will be war between supporters of the President and those of Ruto unless they reconcile! What a nonsense! Where on earth is an assistant reconciled with a boss! Tell Ruto to stop insubordination and respect the President,” he says in a tweet.

Ruto on Thursday said that he is ready for the reconciliation talks, stating that he still respects Uhuru and acknowledges that he remains his boss and senior.
