Ibrahim Rufai a.k.a Deezell sued his ex-loverand friend Maryam Booth for N10 m after she accused him of filming and blackmailing her with a nude video that was posted a few days ago on social media.
Recall it was reported that after Deezell issued a disclaimer, Maryam said she was forced to release a statement, distancing herself from the leaked nude video.
She said; “The recent statement by somebody, Ibrahim Ahmad Rufai in person, popularly known as Deezell, left me with no choice but to break the silence. As a woman, actress and role model I’m not going to let this matter sweep under the carpet.
“I want to state categorically for the record that this same man (lbrahim Ahmad Rufai) has been threatened to leak my video on multiple occasions if I didn’t give him money.
“As a woman, actress, and role model, I tried to preserve my reputation by possible means but the three-year-old video was leaked without my knowledge.” Days after distancing himself from the leaked nude video, Deezell also sued Maryam and 6 others whose pseudonyms were used as defendants. The actor was suing his former girlfriend and six others for character defamation and false accusations.
The complaint notice reads; “I released two statements earlier this week that distanced me from the false baseless allegations levied against me.
“On both occasions I asked the perpetrators to immediately withdraw their statement and apologize. Since then, I have seen some posts and received messages in which some have publicly withdrawn their allegations while others have refused to.
“Now, following proper consultation with my US lawyers and my Nigerian lawyers, I have sued for criminal defamation, inciting public disturbance, insulting criminal conspiracy and abusive language, joint action, mental injury, voluntary and cyber-stalking, in accordance with the relevant law provisions.
“The court has ordered the Nigeria police force to investigate the full identities and report with details of the respondents, most particularly the 3rd-7th, while several other perpetrators not listed therein shall be joined as parties to the suit in due course. See you all in court. Officialdeezell.”
