Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria is once again at it, only a day after it emerged that some of the remarks he has been making on behalf of the Mt Kenya Unity Forum are not truthful.

A founding member of the team, alongside TSP and NARC party leaders Mwangi Kiunjuri and Martha Karua, he has been claiming that they have agreed that the presidential aspirant eyeing the Mt Kenya vote must give 40% of government to the region.

But the claim was rubbished by the team in Naivasha on Monday, an event that was attended by all the leaders, with Karua saying that nothing of the sort has been discussed or agreed on by the team.

Kuria has made yet another announcement about the same, this time saying that there is a plan to subject those keen on the Mt Kenya vote to an open interview to ensure that only the best gets the prize.

“We will have each of the presidential aspirants go through an open interview. Everyone will have to sit down for a grilling session; the one who offers the region the best deal [will get our support],” the firebrand parliamentarian told The Star newspaper.

The other demand from the group has been that the aspirants give the region the Deputy President slot, a demand they have said is not open to discussion, as well as assure it that it’s interests will be looked at.

Most of the top presidential hopefuls have hinted at going there to shop for a running mate, including ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, who has been crisscrossing the region in search of the vote.

ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto, the frontrunners in the contest, are also likely to shop for their possible deputies there, after months of repeatedly touring the mountain
