The video clip viewing a large group of students wearing school uniforms running a marijuana steam engine and visibly in no position to come back to class and adsorb information almost dwarfs the Hoerskool Jan Die Klerk classroom altercation that went viral at the starting of this week. Former Democratic Alliance leader named Mmusi Maimane caught wind of the video footage which was most likely shot on ‘Happy 420’ Day and also called for the resignation of Education Minister Angie Motshekga.

On Friday, 22nd April 2022, Lesfufi made a visit to Leondale High School and following engagements with management, asserted at least 36 students caught on camera smoking dagga within the premises of the school “have been removed and suspended from the school. The Gauteng Education MEC wrote in a tweet that reads “Their disciplinary hearing will be held on Monday.”

In the video, many learners in school uniforms can be watched on the school grounds smoking joints of dagga.
This Comes Only Weeks After Other Gauteng Learners Were Hospitalised
Some students proudly pose for the video while other students blow the smoke toward the camera. Others are watched dancing and acting weirdly. This comes only weeks after many students from Gauteng schools have allegedly been hospitalized after consuming space cakes. A space cake can be a muffin, brownie or any other baked good with marijuana people eat to get “high”.

As per Gauteng Education Department, students from Randfontein High School in the West Rand and Mamellong Secondary School in Tsakane, Ekurhuleni were admitted into the hospital on Thursday, 7th April 2022, and Saturday, 9th April 2022 respectively. Stay tuned with us for more news.
