The outspoken Elgeyo Marakwet County Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has spilled the beans on why some political leaders are reluctant to deputies Deputy President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Amollo Odinga as the race to Statehouse gains momentum.

For example, in One Kenya Alliance (OKA) all the four Principles are yet to decide on who among them would be the coalition’s flags bearer in the next general election as the rest help in constituting the Government.

On the other hand, the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s attempt to compel the former National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka to deputies him in the next polls seems to have hit a dead rock.

The Second in Command had also been anticipated that he would easily shop for a running mate from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Mt. Kenya’s backyard region, but the prime candidates the likes of Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria, National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) leader Martha Karua and the former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri have all showed interest in succeeding the Head of State.

Basing his argument on the politician’s talks, the outspoken Elgeyo Marakwet Senator and the former Senate Majority leader clarified why the Wiper leader Kalonzo was reluctant to reunite with the opposition chief as he hints at DP Ruto’s troubles in acquiring a suitable running mate from Mt. Kenya.

According to the lawmaker, the second in command’s constant wars with President Uhuru Kenyatta have also instilled fear in political leaders hence no one wants to occupy the Deputy President’s office.

Murkoken added that all these are because of his the Deputy President has been shamed in the government he formed and the alleged hustle the DP has gone through under President Kenyatta’s leadership.

Moses Kuria also indicated the need for the Mount Kenya region leaders to be cautious before joining any new political alliances as 2022 politics takes shape.

The lawmaker argued that the region could end up being spectators in the 2022 battle for power hence, it would be left with limited, to no bargaining capacity.

“It is not just that the DP is embarrassed but the office of the president has been put into jeopardy.” “Politicians are now reluctant to deputize others,” Murkomen stated.
