Keanu Reeves is set to star in and produce a new film and anime TV series based on his Brzrkr comic book for Netflix

Keanu Reeves is bringing his brand new comic book series Brzrkr to Netflix, with a new film and anime series in the works.

Reeves, 56, co-wrote the comic book series with Matt Kindt, with the first issue of the 12-issue limited series published March 3 by Boom! Studios.

The actor is attached to star in the film and serve as executive producer, according to a Netflix press release, with the anime series set to follow the film.

The comic book series is described as a ‘brutally epic saga about an immortal warrior’s 80,000-year fight through the ages.’

Reeves will play this warrior, only known as B, is described as a ‘half-mortal and half-god,’ who is, ‘cursed and compelled to violence… even at the sacrifice of his sanity.

In exchange for his services, he’s given the one thing he’s wanted all along – ‘the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence… and how to end it.’

The anime series will explore different elements of the story, while Reeves will return to voice his character.

Reeves created the comic series based on an idea he had been developing for several years, which is already a massive hit.

The first issue sold a whopping 615,000 copies, the largest creator-owned comic book series launch in nearly 30 years.

Reeves will produce the film alongside Ross Richie and Stephen Christy for BOOM! Studios and Stephen Hamel for Company Films will Produce, with Adam Yoelin executive producing for BOOM! Studios.

Reeves recently wrapped filming on The Matrix 4, returning as Neo, which will hit theaters on December 22.

He is also getting ready to start production on John Wick Chapter 4, which starts filming sometime this spring.

Reeves is also attached to play John Rain in the upcoming TV mini-series Rain, based on Barry Eisler’s popular novel series.

The actor is also attached to star in the action-thriller Past Midnight.
