Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, declared Tuesday that the state will go on lockdown from Thursday 16 April 2020 to prevent coronavirus spread.
At the Government House, Kano, Ganduje made this statement during a meeting with some scholars at Islamic.
His words, “Following the outbreak of this disease, COVID-19 in Kano State and the subsequent cases we reported, Kano State Government decided to lock the state for seven days beginning on Thursday, April 16.
“However, we want to call on the scholars to start buying foodstuffs from Kano people, as that would help curb the spread of the disease in the state.
“The lockdown would start at 10 p.m, no more markets, no more gatherings and mosques,” Ganduje declared.
Meanwhile, a new case of coronavirus, otherwise known in the state as COVID-19, was confirmed by the state government Tuesday evening.
With this, the number of confirmed patients with coronavirus has now increased to four in Kano state.
