National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has said he will not have any coalition talks with Deputy President William Ruto or ODM leader Raila Odinga until after the 2022 General Election.
Speaking on Wednesday, Muturi said he has a vision for Kenya, and has offered himself to lead Kenya as the fifth President.
“They are both my competitors; any thoughts of coalitions will be after the elections,” he said on #ChatWithJBMuturi.
Muturi stated that Kenya needs a committed, steadfast and credible leader with a track record that speaks for itself.
He added that if any leader has not kept his word before, he will not keep it now or in the future.
The speaker noted that he has zero tolerance for corruption, and that the fight against it can only be won by taking collective responsibility and enhancing penalties whenever one is found guilty.
“The penalties have to be so high and swift to deter the perpetrators. We must also effect the whistleblower protection bill.”
Muturi also addressed the issue of unemployment, saying no jobless youth should be forced to pay their higher education loans.
Muturi recently announced that he will use the Democratic Party of Kenya as his vehicle to State House next year.
He has also been meeting Kenyans from different regions and sectors as he sells his agenda for the country.
Muturi was endorsed as the Mt Kenya spokesperson following a coronation by elders at Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga shrine in Murang’a county, in May 2021.
Last week, he announced that he would relinquish several international parliamentary positions he currently holds to concentrate on his presidential bid.
Among the international positions the speaker holds are in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, where he is the chairperson of the African Region CPA Executive Committee.
He has held the position for the past five years.
Muturi is also the current chair of the African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption and the Deputy Vice Chair Person of the Global Organisation of Parliamentarians Against Corruption.
