“I Am Sorry” Funke Akindele Apologizes In Video Over Hosting House Party Amid Pandemic

According to police reports, the Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele Bello was arrested in Lagos for hosting a house party ( her husband’s birthday) after the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Buhari announced via national TV that all activities in Lagos, Abuja, Ogun should be shut down for two weeks (read here).

However, the celebrity used her Instagram account as a medium to apologize for violating this rule. 

On her Instagram page she wrote: 

“Dear Friends, I really have to do this!! I hear you all and I acknowledge all your honest feedback. I also thank you for your concerns, well wishes and calls. I am sorry and hope this video offers some explanation. Please stay safe. And God bless.”

In the video, Funke Akindele said that some of her employees who had been stranded in their Amen Estate studio since the Lagos borders had been locked, in compliance with President Buhari’s lockdown order of March 29.

She claimed that she would never deliberately deceive someone.
