Huawei held this Wednesday (2) the launch event of HarmonyOS, the company’s solution to deal with access restrictions on Android. The manufacturer also took the opportunity to unveil the first products to leave the factory with the new system, including the MatePad 11 and MatePad Pro tablets, in addition to the Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro watches.
Another novelty confirmed by the company was the P50 smartphone line, the protagonist of several rumors in recent months. The Chinese giant’s next high-end cellphones, the P50 family had the design revealed, following what leaks had already indicated, but ended up being accompanied by bad news for those waiting for the phones’ debut.
Huawei P50 has confirmed design
At the end of the conference, right after announcing the 100+ devices that will be upgraded to HarmonyOS, Huawei officially unveiled the Huawei P50 line. A brief teaser showed the look of the new devices, which will feature a huge pill-shaped camera module, with a circle at the top and one at the base, where the sensors will be housed.
The specifications of the devices have not been confirmed, but the model displayed by the brand has three cameras on top, possibly aimed at wide, ultrawide and macro photos, while a fourth lens is on the base, very reminiscent of a periscope camera. The phone shown is golden, in a tone closer to the beige on the back panel, and metallic around the edges.
This is precisely the design that leaks published in recent months had indicated, and it follows the brand’s tradition of offering a differentiated and extravagant look, as was the case with the Mate 40 family and the circular camera module.
No release date for “known reasons”
Shortly after confirming the device, Huawei revealed that it does not have a defined release date. The presenter pointed out as the reason “the reasons that we all already know”, referring to the numerous sanctions applied by the US, which made it impossible for the Chinese manufacturer to negotiate with US companies such as Google, Qualcomm and Intel.
The company reinforced its commitment to meet the expectations of “consumers around the globe”, indicating its intention to continue serving the global market despite the restrictions, and is already working to resolve the issues and bring the Huawei P50 to market as soon as possible.
