HBO’s Succession gets Season 3 premiere date



HBO’s Emmy award winning drama, Succession finally has a season 3 premiere date.

According to the network, the third season of the dysfunctional Roy family drama will begin on October 17. Exactly two years and four days after the last episode of season two aired.

Production on the third season of Succession was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The third season of Succession would reportedly only have nine episodes. One less than its two predecessors.

The official synopsis reads: “Ambushed by his rebellious son Kendall at the end of season two, Logan Roy begins season three in a perilous position, scrambling to secure familial, political, and financial alliances. Tensions rise as a bitter corporate battle threatens to turn into a family civil war.”

Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong return as Logan and Kendall Roy. The rest of the Roy family will also star, including Sarah Snook as Shiv, Kieran Culkin as Roman, and Alan Ruck as Connor Roy. Nicholas Braun and Matthew Macfadyen reprise their roles as Greg and Tom Wambsgans as well.

There are also some new additions to the show for the new season. Alexander Skarsgård (is confrontational tech founder/CEO Lukas Matsson), Sanaa Lathan (comes in as New York lawyer, Lisa Arthur), Linda Emond (as senior White House aide Michelle-Anne Vanderhoven), Jihae (PR consultant Berry Schneider), Adrien Brody (as billionaire activist Josh Aaronson), Hope Davis (as Sandi Furness, daughter to Logan Roy’s long-time rival Sandy Furness) and Dasha Nekrasova.

Succession is HBO’s big show following the completion of Game of Thrones. At last year’s Emmy Awards, the show won seven awards for its second season, including the award for outstanding drama.

Succession is created by Jesse Armstrong. It also boasts executive producers Adam McKay, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, Jane Tranter, Mark Mylod, Tony Roche, Scott Ferguson, Jon Brown, Lucy Prebble, Will Tracy and Will Ferrell.
