Lawyer Dan Gilleon has stated, he filed the complaint on behalf of Jacob Gregoire who is a 12 year veteran of the Fire Department, a claim is often a forerunner to a lawsuit, in a letter to the CHP, Gilleon said that his client is going to agree to settle the claim without any compensation if the CHP agrees to end a “longstanding problem” of the officers who were dealing and obstructing firefighters and emergency medical technicians at freeway crashes.
It seems like officials have tried and they are continuing to try in order to hide as to what has happened, they are trying to cover up and it needs to be stopped, this has been stated by Gilleon. The incident which was caught on video by a TV news crew, occurred the night of 4th February at the scene rollover crash on Interstate 805.
The next day CHP and Chula Vista Fire Department officials meet and issued a joint statement calling the incident “unfortunate” and not representative of the manner in which our agencies normally work together, the Chula Vista Fire Department arrived first at the crash with a firefighter engineer calling the incident “unfortunate” and “not representative of the manner which the agencies usually work together.
It has been told by Gregoire that he was told by the CHP officer that if he doesn’t get back into his fire engine and go back to the fire station, he is going to be arrested, he told this on Monday as the claim has been filed, he stated that he was dumbfounded at the time.

The two other fire engines left the scene at the time but Gregoire refused to leave because his rig was acting as a protective buffer, he stated he wouldn’t have been able to live with himself for the rest of his life if someone could have potentially been injured because he didn’t stand up for what he believes in.
Gregoire was then cuffed and he was put in the back of a CHP cruiser, Gregoire stated that he thought his career was over, he was sitting in the back of the ambulance thinking what is he going to tell his wife, this is what he said to the TV station. As two of the supervisors from the agency went back and forth for half an hour, Gregoria was released and no charges have been filed.
