Italian fashion brand, Liu Jo, has sued top model, Kendall Jenner for breach of contract. Jenner denies this allegation.
The Italian company accused the 25 year old of breaching the terms of a modeling contract. According to them, she failed to appear at the second of two planned photo shoots. The company added that she would have received a total of $1.5 million, plus a 20 percent service fee, had she followed through with the agreement.
The Keeping up with the Kardashians star denies breaching her contract. Meanwhile, Liu Jo claims Jenner took part in the first shoot in July 2019. The company fury revealed that by February 2020, it had already paid her $1.35 million. The second shoot was to take place in London in March 2020. But the coronavirus pandemic prohibited her from traveling.
The lawsuit states there was an agreement to postpone the shoot to the fall but did not confirm a new date. The 2018 world’s highest paid model allegedly “ceased responding to Liu Jo”. This was until the company “informed her that it considered her in breach of the contract. Therefore, leading to a termination of the contract. The complaint also claims it filed the complaint after it could not obtain a refund of what the supermodel allegedly owed.
A spokesperson for model management company The Society Management, which represents Jenner, stated,
“This suit is without merit. The Society Management, on behalf of Ms. Kendall Jenner, has continually offered Liu Jo alternative dates and locations to fulfill an agreement that was forced to be delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.”
The top star has reportedly “offered to complete services honoring her commitments willingly.”
Liu Jo said it learned the model “would be traveling to Italy in September 2020 to perform a photo shoot for a different designer.” This was that after Kendall proposed to postpone the shoot to October.
The company says the model must refund at least its first and second payments. This is because she did not attend the second photo shoot. The group further alleges that it could also not reschedule to a date that suited both parties.
Lui jo is seeking at least $1.8 million in damages.
