Drama as sports journalists who wanted FKF investigated for ‘gross misconduct’ is attacked by goons

Drama was on Saturday witnessed at a local hotel along Ngong Road in Nairobi when veteran Journalist Milton Nyakundi was attacked by hired football goons who were dispatched to disrupt a press conference.

Nyakundi, who is behind a letter that was penned to the Ministry of Sports, demanding Football Kenya Federation (FKF) boss Nick Mwendwa to be investigated for gross misconduct, had called a press conference to discuss matters football in the country.

His plans were disrupted by goons who arrived in a number cars. It thereafter took the intervention of police officers drawn from Kilimani police station to restore calmness with Nyakundi going on with the press conference.

Talking to his social media account, Nyakundi claimed that the move was a dirty tactic, accusing FKF boss of hiring goons to cause chaos.

“Nick Mwendwa has today sent goons to disrupt my press conference but the supreme will of the people and the rule of law has prevailed,” said Nyakundi.

On Friday, The Cabinet Secretary for Sports Amb. Amina Mohamed had ordered for the inspection of the Football Kenya Federation pursuant to the Sports Act 2013.

This follows the High Court ruling on Thursday October 14th 2021, in which FKF had sought to gag the Directorate of Criminal Investigations from probing

misappropriation of public money at Kandanda House.

At the press conference, Milton Nyakundi once again asked Mwendwa to resign along with his executive committee to have way for inspection.
