Details of DP Ruto’s meeting with Rift Valley Leaders

Deputy President William Ruto on Monday, June 7, 2021 held a meeting with leaders from the Rift Valley region.

Reports privy to the meeting revealed that the second in command discussed the region’s political and economic development.

The DP’s meeting comes barely a few days after President Uhuru Kenyatta in his three-day visit to the Luo- Nyanza Region and launched multi-billion projects.

President Uhuru’s move to launch the projects in Nyanza region did not go down well with leaders from Rift Valley who felt excluded from the Jubilee administration’s development plans.

Some leaders from Rift Valley felt that the president has sidelined the region in terms of development projects.

Ruto who hails from the vote rich Rift Valley Region had expressed his interest to succeed president Uhuru once he retires in 2022 .

However, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi who also come from the region has also expressed interest in the seat.

The DP has been holding several meetings with his allies to discuss matters to do with his highly publicised bottom-up economic model.

Ruto recently held a meeting with his allies from the Mount Kenya region and the Coastal region to discuss his economic model which he intends to adopt if he wins the 2022 Presidential elections.

The second in command has also met other leaders including; economist David Ndii and former CBK boss Professor Njuguna Ndungu to discuss his hustler narrative and the bottom-up economic model.
