Coronavirus: Benue State Records First Case

Benue state government has confirmed its first case of COVID-19.

The governor, Samuel Ortom, who clarified this to the newsmen recently on 28 March, said that the index case was a woman, Susan Okpe, who had recently returned from the United Kingdom. He said she’s actually getting therapy.

The governor said that the identity of the victim has been released and that anybody who may have had some interaction with her over the last two weeks could come forward for monitoring and isolation.

He appealed to the people of the state not to stigmatize the woman, but to help her and anyone who may have had direct communication with her.
