Police spokesman Bruno Shioso has said that tension witnessed in Kondele during Deputy President William Ruto tour to the lakeside was due to dispute over the distribution of campaign funds.

Shioso who spoke hours after DP William Ruto’s motorcade was stoned said in a statement that there were tension within Kondele area, owing to the alleged distribution of campaign logistics funds among local groups.

Shioso further alleges that the intelligence was promptly shared within the DP’s team with a recommendation to skip the area.

Ruto was forced to cut short his speech while addressing residents in Kondele as his convoy ran into a hostile reception of rowdy youths on his second visit to the lakeside.

Sioso says police swiftly reacted to contain the situation and ensured that the DP was not hurt.

Anti-riot police officers were forced to love teargas canisters, forcing the rowdy youths that had thronged the area to run for safety.
