Broadcaster Emma Barnett Signs With Bloomberg Quicktake For New Show

Bloomberg Media has tapped British broadcaster and journalist Emma Barnett for a new weekly interview show on their social news network Bloomberg Quicktake.

Barnett is currently the host of BBC Radio 4 show “Woman’s Hour” and presents the BBC’s flagship current affairs programme “Newsnight”. She will continue to work on both shows in addition to her new role on Bloomberg Quicktake.

Previously she worked as a journalist and editor at British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

Barnett’s new show, the title of which has not yet been announced, will feature interviews with “the biggest newsmakers influencing the global conversation,” according to Bloomberg. Topics will range from business and health care to technology and climate change which Barnett will tackle during “intimate, organic conversations” with her guests.

“I’m delighted to be developing this new program on Bloomberg Quicktake and look forward to sitting down with leading voices who are shaping the future. The new show will explore the motivations and challenges guests have faced during their careers and provide insight into their lives and aspirations,” commented Barnett.

“Emma’s brilliance and interview expertise will bring great energy to the Bloomberg Quicktake network,” said Justin B. Smith, CEO of Bloomberg Media. “Quicktake covers the future of business, and Emma’s new program will add global perspective and address critical issues with some of the world’s biggest newsmakers.”

Bloomberg Quicktake launched in 2017, in partnership with Twitter, as a social video news network known for its bite-size video news blasts. It has since expanded across other social media platforms including YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. Last November it launched a streaming news channel aimed at a “new generation of business leaders and professionals”.

Barnett, labeled a “seriously tough interviewer” by The Guardian, has received mostly positive reviews since taking over the highly-prized “Woman’s Hour” hosting gig in January, but has also found herself at the center of a number of small storms, including, most recently, coming under fire from musician Sinead O’Connor after O’Connor objected to a question from Barnett.
