Even though she is the most nominated at the 2021 Grammys, singer Beyonce won’t be performing at this year’s award show.
She has been reported by the Los Angeles Times to have received nine nominations in eight categories.
No comment yet from her about the report and neither has she confirmed or denied whether she will be in attendance at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.
“It’s unfortunate because she’s such a big part of the recording academy”, The Grammys CEO,Harvey Mason Jr. Said.
In 2019, Kendrick Lamar opted out. And so did Beyonce’s husband, Jay-Z, in 2018. Beyonce’ s absence this year will make it the third.
The Recording Academy is also facing accusations against being bias toward black artist and women. Along with criticism over it’s voting guidlines and it’s snub of The Weekend in 2021 nominations.
The Grammys will be hosted by “The Daily Show” host and comedian Trevor Noah and based at Staples Center, although much of the event will be virtual. The show will feature the usual array of performances, including Bad Bunny, Black Pumas, Cardi B, BTX, Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Miranda Lambert, Lil Baby, Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, Maren Morris, Roddy Cicch and Taylor Swift.
