Four armed robbers were killed while two were captured with weapons, ammunition and cash sum of 900,000 naira stolen from the robbery victim recovered after a gun battle at Anambra town.
Together with the patrol squad attached to Fegge Division, the Command Puff-Adder operatives responded to a distress call at Federal Housing Estates Fegge, Onitsha and rounded up a five-man robbery gang that allegedly attacked a still unknown Chisco Park Upper Iweka’s Nmandi “m” surname in Onitsha and robbed him of unspecified amount of money at gunpoint.
The detention happened at about 2:02pm on 13/2/2020.
Meanwhile, suspects on police spotting opened fire after which police promptly responded.
As a result, during the gun fight three male suspects whose names are still to be determined were fatally wounded.
They were taken to the hospital for treatment but confirmed dead by the medical doctor upon arrival, while two others were arrested alive, namely-Chigbo Igwe’ m’ from New Parts Market Nkpor, about 25 years old, and-Onyedika Okekeke ‘ m’ about 23 years old from Anieche Street Okpoko.
Exhibits seized from suspects include cash sum of Nine hundred thousand Naira(900,000)(2)One double barrel gun cut tosize,(3)One single barrel gun,(4)Seven live cartridges, two spent cartridges, a gold ring and four different types of handsets. Case is under investigation after which the remaining suspects would be charged to trial for prosecution.
