Nicki Minaj Tackles Music Fans' Backlash On Her Collaboration With 6ix9ine

Nicki Minaj is reacting to the backlash over her forthcoming Tekashi 6ix9ine collaboration.

Nicki Minaj’s career was packed with very controversial moves over the past two years. Her ongoing feud with Cardi B remains a hot topic but its decision to align itself with Tekashi 6ix9ine was even more peculiar. For both artists, “FEFE” became a huge success and a definitive summer 2018 single, months before 6ix9ine would face racketeering and firearm charges.

Even then, Nicki Minaj’s rep was at risk for child molestation charges by associating herself with someone who is on probation. Perhaps it was the best move to seem like she didn’t contradict herself as her brother had been convicted of child rape charges months before “FEFE” hit airwaves.

Aligning with a snitch, especially in hip-hop, is a dangerous move, but once again Nicki’s allegiance to 6ix9ine is obviously moving deeper. Now she is the first artist to collaborate openly with 6ix9ine after his testimony against Tr3y Way members. This week, the two get ready to release their song, “TROLLZ.” Bail Project Inc. will be donated proceeds from the song and merch which many have found ironic since 6ix9ine literally put several Black men behind bars.

Of course, Nicki faced criticism when the Barbz came to her defence. Nevertheless, Nicki made it clear she doesn’t know what someone else thinks because she has her own mind.

“You don’t have to defend me. I’m not afraid of internet bullies, forums, musicians. I’m not hopping on band wagons. Others will never know what it feels like to have their own minds,” she said.Β

It does make sense, honestly. Who would be scared of blogs or internet trolls if you had the feds at your side?
