Halima Shitu, The First Female Hisbah Commander In Kano Is Dead

The first woman leader (commander) of the religious police force (Hisbah) died at the age of 55 years.

After suffering much from an undisclosed illness, the first woman leader of the religious police force in Kano, Hisbah corps died.

She contributed to Islamic scholarship among women in Nigeria and Africa as Chair of the Muslim Women’s Association in Africa (AMEWA).

With an Interview granted by her sister, Maimuna Shitu, she briefly said the following:

β€œShe left behind a husband who is a prominent Islamic Scholar Sheikh Abdulwahab Abdullah and six children to mourn her. Her eldest son is Malam Abdullah Abdulwahab, a system analyst at Bayero University Kano.”
