Foreign: “PBS NewsHour” Anchor, Jim Lehrer Dies At 85

Long-time “PBS NewsHour” anchor Jim Lehrer died at age 85 on Thursday, the network announced.

⁣Lehrer created the flagship news program PBS in 1975 and served as an anchor until he retired in 2011.
“I am profoundly saddened by the loss of someone who was fundamental to my professional life, a mentor to me and someone whose friendship I have admired for decades,” said Judy Woodruff, anchor and editor-in-chief of the “PBS NewsHour.” “I looked up to him as a model for honest, insightful and reflective journalism and I know many others who feel the same.”
